Supported projects – Axis 3

Please find here all the research projects in cellular and molecular biology supported by the Quebec Parkinson Network and its members.

Sponsor:

Tourmaline Oil Chair in Parkinson’s Disease, University of Calgary, CIHR

Principal Investigator:

Oury Monchi, Ph.D, University of Calgary

Co-investigators:

Ziv Gan-Or, MD, PhD, McGill University
Zahinoor Ismail, MD, PhD, University of Calgary

Study Coordinator:

Iris Kathol, Ph.D

Primary Objective:

To investigate the genetic origins of neuropsychiatric symptoms in Parkinson’s disease.

Secondary Objectives:

  1. Characterize targeted genes with single nucleotide variations or polymorphisms that have been associated with neuropsychiatric or cognitive deficits in Parkinson’s disease.
  2. To explore the association of the targeted genes with MBI-C total score and subscores.
  3. To conduct a genome-wide exploratory association study between the 51 genes that were fully sequenced using reverse molecular probes and MBI-C total score and subscores.

Study Center:

Cumming School of Medicine, University of Calgary; and Montreal Neurological Institute, McGill University.
